Grandma J. came out to help Amy and hang out with baby.

It was very fun to have her here and she helped out a lot.

Here are some of pictures of her and baby Ava.

So I thought this would be the best place to post continuous updates of our little baby girl.   We hope that those of you who don’t get to see her in person as much as you’d like can enjoy her as much you want in pictures.

I intend to post pictures very often so come back and see the new ones.

Here are some of the latest pictures of Ava.

Cute Purple Dress that Nicole made for her.

Catching Up – 2009

Wow, has this year gone by quickly so far!   In the spring we have visitor after visitor for a month or more, then Amy finished her semester at Hunter College and we flew off to UT to visit the families.   We brought back Emily, Amy’s youngest sister and tried to show her a good time in NY for a month.  She left mid July.  We relaxed and enjoyed the beach almost every weekend getting excited for our trip to St. Maarten in late August.  The week before we left my college roommates and I decided to hold our bi-annual Roommate Reunion/Testosterone Festival.   This year we drove to a popular mountain biking trail in Vermont and had a good time while trying not to hurt ourselves.   We then stayed the night at our timeshare there in Vermont, again having as much fun as we used to back when I had more hair, Brad had less kids, and Kent had nice abs.   :)

I got back from VT on Sunday Aug 16th, on Wednesday morning Aug 19th we all headed to JFK Airport to fly to beautiful St. Maarten.

Welcome to St. Maarten

We’d had a bit of a scare and debated calling off the trip, because Hurricane Bill was forecasted to pass just north of the island and we we’ren’t sure flights would be going down there or feared we might get stuck on the island (I wasn’t worried about that – personally, it sounds like a great vacation extension- stuck at a resort on a beautiful tropical island isn’t my idea of suffering.)  But in the end the forecast models showed that the Bill would vear north and miss our island.   So we decided all systems go – unless they canceled our flight – which they didn’t.

Yes, I did completely ignore that fact that we had a blog for 6 months.  Here’s my list of excuses :

  • I changed roles at work,
  • I got elected to the Board of our Co-op and have been busy with that,
  • Amy was in school (ok this isn’t a great reason, all it means is that I never see her or she’s studying all the time. – this should actually give me more time to update the blog but conversely much less to blog about.)
  • and it was the College Football season and bowl games.  (This is probably the biggest factor)
  • It was the Christmas season and we sent out the old school blog (a Christmas card).

So even though I’m posting this ever-so-late, I still figured it’d be something worth posting, just in case you accidentally threw your copy out, the dog or kids slobbered on it, or it’s worn down from the nightly kiss you give it before bed.   Now you can just log onto our blog and enjoy it fresh and new anytime you want.   Ah the conveniences of modern technology.

So enjoy it again like it was your first time.

Summer 2008

We’re both looking forward to heading out to UTAH to see our families.

After Amy finished school, we spent the summer at the beach, vacationing in Florida, playing soccer, and working on our house.

Amy accomplished some major milestones by Graduating from Westchester Community College with her Associates Degree in Nursing and then passing her Board Certifications to become an R.N.

We play soccer for an IBM summer league and have both played much better this year over other years. Amy has had a couple of good shots on goal and many great defensive plays. I’m the team’s leading scorer and probably in the best shape I’ve been in in the 6 years I’ve played in the league. Which has been good because our team seems to always be missing some players and playing games a man down with no subs. 90 Minutes of straight running in the summer heat is a lot!!!

The day after July 4th we started tearing our bathroom apart. We ripped all the tile outside the tub area off of the wall, took out the sink and vanity, both light fixtures, and the mirror/medicine cabinet. It pretty much looked like a bomb went off in there.

We then sheetrocked over the walls, installed a new pedestal sink, much bigger and better mirror/medicine cabinet, new light fixtures, and added an electrical outlet and light switch by the sink. We painted the room a warm, and sunny yellow which Amy likes and since she spends 9 minutes for every one I spend in there I let her pick it. The trim is white and we still need to install some type of white shelves above the toilet. Over all it looks really good although since it’s not a large room it’s hard to see in the pictures.

. . . And now the bathroom FINSISHED!!!

Here’s some pictures of the finished product. (so far – it still needs to be decorated, towel-rack added, touched up, etc.) Again, it’s hard to see how good it looks. You’ll just have to come visit to see it for real.

After the bathroom was done we turned our efforts to the bedroom. Here’s how it started.

Yes folks that is a purple bedroom. No, we didn’t paint it that color we just haven’t changed it since we moved in. And yes, we all know what a wonderful flare the previous owner had for color –

To Be CONTINUED . . .

Ready, Set . . . GOAL!!!!!
